Trip to See the California Kids

Amy's birthday, President's Day 4 day weekend, and grandkids!!!

What better excuse to go to California in February? 

Come along for the ride 

 We started out with a picture of Mt. Rainier

 Mt. McLoughlin along the way, hard to see that far off

but it's there

 Mt. Shasta with a big cloud covering the top

 We've always thought these were rice paddies outside of 

Sacramento...but I guess this is an overflow area 

they direct some of the river to so it won't overflow

the banks 

 It looked like the ocean.  It usually looks like big fields 

sectioned off like they are growing something

 The river never looks this full

 And then there's Claire

 She made me a Valentine card!!

Claire and her friend, Izzy, are playing a new

game, "Watcha Yo' Mouth"

 Cade made Amy a birthday cake

 Claire's Lacrosse hadn't started playing games yet 

so we went to her practice one evening

 Taking pictures right into the setting sun makes for

 Amy's neighbor has a son in first grade and he asked

Cade to help coach his basketball team, so we 

went on Saturday morning and watched

 Coach and Assistant look the same

 He had an afternoon game on Saturday

 Cade hurt his shoulder while wrestling with his sister

earlier in the week so now he gets to sit out most of 

the games while it's healing 

He's cute either way

 More poker in the background and Claire preparing 

to make some goo

Interesting stuff

Amy and I covered a Japanese Tea Box Claire

got from her Nana.  She's going to use it for a 

nightstand

 Two games on Sunday.  He got to bat a couple 

times but that's about all

Looking Good!!

 More down time,  Monday's baseball game was cancelled 

because of RAIN

 Got some light bulbs changed out along with some
receptacles that were loose

 Claire showed us a fun way to waste Skittles

 But pretty neat

 Gram did NOT get on the hoverboard

 Cade made fried cod for dinner one night

 Then we took off for home when they went back to 

work and school.  The Sacramento River looked the same

just better with the blue sky  :o)

 Lake Shasta was about as full as we have ever seen it

in the 12 years we've been going by 

 Mt. Shasta

We spent the night in southern Oregon on the way north

and in the morning as we headed out there was a dusting 

of snow down to the road.  Good thing we got over the

Siskyou's and the four other passes the day before

Pete turns 2

Pete turned 2 years old the end of January

We went over to celebrate

 Lining up all the peeps to get in the bus stop

 and lining up all the cars around the coffee table

 We went to the Children's Museum in Everett to celebrate 

the occasion.  It was a nice day so the outside floor was open

 Hard to get Pete out of the 'rubber dirt' area

 Hard to get him out of any kind of dirt area

 Bumpy car rides are always a hit

 Not so much on the ones that don't move

 The water room took up most of the time there

 Put the balls in and they suck up the pipe and 

across the ceiling and drop down into some kind of 

water tub.

 Scarves sailing around the tubes on the wall and then

blowing out different openings onto the floor

 Driving a bus was fun or looking at the headlights

whichever you prefer

 Can't go home without a story in the story room upstairs

Pictures were taken

 Presents were opened

 and cupcakes were frosted

and Last but not Least 

Candles were lit
