Camping Trip to Nile, Washington

We went over to Walt's hunting spot and 'dry' camped for
4 days so he and his fellow hunters could fix a bridge
and clear some brush on the trails
We started out in cloudy weather, yes July 11th and still cloudy
You don't have to wonder why this is called 'The
Evergreen State'
Then going up Chinook Pass we drove right into those clouds
Still had snow on the ground
The temp was in the low 40's
and on the other side of the pass it was clearing off
Off and on clouds but in the high 60's and low 70's in camp
Chuck and Diane's trailer on the far right, then ours
and Don and Mickie next to us and Tom and Sherry on the left
Campfire between Don and Tom's RVs
Notice we could have a fire in July?  They must have had
some rain over there this Spring
The evening passtime after a hard day in the woods
Pretty surroundings  with Chuck in the foreground
On the way home it was beautiful

Can't beat pictures with blue sky
 Mt. Rainier from Chinook Pass
and those green trees in the sun
Mt. Rainier was covered with clouds from sea level near Buckley
but in Puyallup it was uncovered (right of the lamp post)

We had a nice relaxing time with family!!

Making of the Tent

After helping to put up the new swing set I had this
brainstorm of an idea to make a tent to go under the
slide platform
So I worked on the plan for a while and then got started
After looking all over town for a double pull zipper so it
could be opened from the inside as well as the outside
I ended up buying one online
Marked off the window area with the little white dot pin heads
Cut the window in an 'X'
so I could fold them over to the front side

and cover them with the screen then window trim so there
were no raw edges inside the tent to unravel over time
One window done, two to go!

The zipper is going under the slide only because Ellie
thought that was a good way to go under the slide

 Every window needs a curtain
and an easy way to keep it open
Loops to put tent stakes thru to anchor it under the slide
so they could unzip the tent easier
and ties to go around the 4x4s

Worked pretty well.  Might need a couple staples above the
zipper so it's easier to zip closed too, but
it should be fun to play with for a while
